Why do I see traffic originating from AtomicLog?

AtomicLog uses the Internet to get information about the Internet sites you visit with other programs. It uses DNS resolution to translate IP addresses to domain names. And it contacts the various domain name registrars to find the one most likely responsible for the IP address to show you the organization responsible for the web site.

I just installed AtomicLog and it doesn't run.

If you encounter errors the first time you run AtomicLog, you may be missing or have an older than required version of a system file required to run AtomicLog. Because most systems have updated versions of these files, they are not included in our full setup package. Download atomiclogsys.exe, then reboot your system and re-run atomiclog23.exe.

I've been using AtomicLog for a while and now it doesn't run.

You might encounter the error "cannot create temporary file tmpdb1.mdb". Just in-case one of the installed files became corrupted; first try re-running the installation package
If this doesn't help, it might be that your database became corrupted due to a system crash, you will have to restore from a backup. You could have made a backup by manually saving the database called "atomiclog.mdb" to another location or by performing an Export using Ctl E .
To restore from a backup, first close AtomicLog. If you manually saved the database, simply delete the database in your AtomicLog directory and replace it with the file you saved. If you performed an Export using Ctl E, delete the database in your AtomicLog directory and the next time you start AtomicLog, it will automatically create a new database. Then press Ctl I to imported your exported files.
If you don't have a backup, you will have to delete your database. Delete the file called "atomiclog.mdb" from your TIFNY installation directory. You will loose your history. The next time you start AtomicLog, it will automatically create a new database
You should export your database regularly to avoid loosing information in the case of a database problem. And you should compress your AtomicLog database regularly for maintenance.

How do I block web site ads?

Find the web site serving the Ad in the condensed log and click the button next to it to filter the site. AtomicLog only works with "third party" banners. That is, they use another server (like BurstMedia, Advertising.com, Doubleclick, etc.) However, if a server stores all its ad pictures itself, blocking the site will also block the content because they are from the same server.
